Getting Started

Panels is a Gravity Forms add-on by CRFTD that turns form submissions into finished, downloadable images. You design a layered template — background, text, and image overlays — and your visitors fill in a form to generate their own personalized version, with a live preview as they type.

What you need

  • WordPress 5.8 or newer

  • PHP 7.4 or newer

  • Gravity Forms 2.8 or newer, installed and activated (Panels uses Gravity Forms features, including the Image Choice field, that require 2.8)

Panels works alongside any page builder — Divi, Elementor, the block editor, or a classic theme. It only needs a Gravity Forms form embedded on a page.

Installing

  1. Download the Panels zip from your account at crftdtools.dev.

  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.

  3. Choose the zip, click Install Now, then Activate.

If Gravity Forms is not active, Panels shows a notice in your dashboard and waits — nothing runs until Gravity Forms is available.

Licensing and updates

Panels does not currently ask for a license key. Updates are distributed through crftdtools.dev — download the new version from your account and install it over the old one (WordPress will offer to replace the existing plugin). Automatic license-key-based updates are planned for a future release.

Your first Panel in three steps

  1. Build a Panel — create a Panel (your design template) with a background, size, and text or image layers. See Building a Panel.

  2. Connect a form — add the Panels field to a Gravity Forms form and assign your Panel to it. See Connecting a Form.

  3. Embed the form — place the form on any page the way you normally would. Visitors fill it in, watch the live preview, and download their finished image after submitting.
